Lonely Planet: 1000 Ultimate Experiences

1000 Ultimate Experiences is a bucket-list/inspiration app for all Lonely Planet travellers – no matter what their fancy, cataloguing the best places to go, sights to see and things to do in the world.

 
 

Lonely Planet had approached us in the beginning of 2010 for a project to bring the 1000 Ultimate Experiences coffee table/bucket list book to life on the iPad.

Difficulty level: the iPad hadn't been released yet.

 
 
 

A small event that I'm quite chuffed by: Apple featured this app as one of several used by the actors/models in their 2011 iPad 2 release featurette. At the 0:08-0:10 second mark,by the man on the bus and the girl in the laundrette. Video is copyright of Apple Inc.

 
 

Lonely Planet: The World Awaits

 

Print and video design usually aren't my specialty, but I'm not one to pass up an opportunity to experiment when it comes along. With Lonely Planet, our team initiated some poster and motion graphic design for a campaign and supporting POS material for their new colour guidebook relaunch.

M-Connect Mobile & Tablet Site

 

The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre were looking for a wayfinding solution for their building – both getting to and from as well as getting around within it. Targeted mainly at tourists and curious locals, the MCEC Mobile & Tablet sites address both issues by providing guides and easy to use maps for all situations in the palm of their hands.

A simple wayfinding system was designed (based on a computed matrix of closest staircase/elevator) to help users navigate the extremely large venue.
